Verizons not going to be too happy about this one. From everyone weve spoken to, they really wanted to keep details surrounding the Android-powered HTC Incredible underwraps for a while longer. Thats understandable, given that the Incredible blows their current flagship Android device, the Motorola Droid, to smithereens on just about every count.

Alas, all it takes is one device to slip into the wrong hands and fortunately for us, it has! A bunch of new shots of the HTC Incredible (with brand new, Verizon-brand-friendly colors) have just leaked out, and a gaggle of spec details came with it.

All of these shots and details come by way of Androidforum user/super spy NKT.

The specs confirmed so far:

* 8 megapixel camera with autofocus
* Memory: 512 MB ROM, 512 MB RAM (320 free to the user)
* Android 2.1 with HTCs Sense UI
* Optical Trackpad
* 3.7 WVGA (800480) AMOLED Screen
* 1300mAH battery
* FM Tuner
* 802.11b/g WiFi
* 117.5 mm (L) x 58.5 mm (w) x 11.9 mm (T)
* 1Ghz Snapdragon processor, underclocked to 768Mhz.

Go ahead camp out on the edge of your seat for this one. Its easily one of the most powerful Android handsets coming to the market; its a wee bit less powerful than the Nexus One, but packs a beefier camera as a trade off.

Verizon’s just revealed its going to have Long Term Evolution (LTE) handsets ready for mid-2011, which is six months earlier than it had previously said it would be available. It looks like the big carriers are making the first moves to snatch the next-gen mobile market.

The company will have infrastructure installed in some locations by the end of 2010, but it’ll take up to six months for suitably equipped 4G (also known as 3GPP) mobile devices to arrive. At first these will most likely be dual-chipped devices, that can hop on to super-fast LTE networks when they’re in range and fall back on 3G tech for the moments when 4G signals are patchy. Which they will be at first. While cell phone handsets will be the things that consumers will be keen to get their hands on, many of the first 4G applications will probably be 4G data dongles for laptops, since using a laptop in a static location will result in less 4G drop-outs, and thus a better consumer experience (which networks like Verizon will be keen to promote.)

But Verizon’s CTO, Anthony Melone, also had things to say about how 4G is going to cost us, when interviewed on the subject by the Wall Street Journal, and his words are a good indicator of how the whole mobile industry is going to work in the future. The main point that concerns users is that all you can eat plans, delivering unlimited 4G data for a fixed monthly fee, aren’t going to happen. This is “the big issue that has to change” according to Malone. It won’t be a restrictive move, and consumers shouldn’t worry, Malone also noted–Verizon doesn’t want users to sit there concerned with questions like “‘Can I stream this radio?’”

Looking at the disastrous PR that’s hit AT&T thanks to the explosion in mobile data traffic caused by Apple’s invention of the iPhone, as well as the trend toward ever-smarter mobile cell phone tech and large-screen mobile Net devices like the iPad and its upcoming host of competitors, this is inevitable. And it’s even been echoed by other industry players. The key reason is obvious: It’s going to cost Verizon, AT&T and all the other network providers around the world a huge pile of cash to get 4G up and running, and the companies have to recoup that cost somehow. What this does make clear, though, is that we’re all going to have to think differently about how we pay for our mobile calls and data payment plans in the future–and we’ll have to get our minds around the matter sooner than we may have anticipated.

Verizon Wireless has scored a deal to stream National Football League games and other coverage, starting with the April 22 draft. Sprint previously had an exclusive deal with the league and will retire its NFL Mobile Live service.

The largest U.S. wireless company reportedly spent $720 million on the deal, according to the Wall Street Journal. Verizon subscribers won’t get the holy grail — that is, access to watch every game on demand.

The package includes live video for NBC’s “Sunday Night Football” and the NFL Network’s Thursday night games, 24-hour news coverage and the RedZone channel. The latter is Sunday afternoon football for the ADD generation; coverage constantly switches between games whenever a team has scored or is likely to.

Die-hard fans can rest assured that video highlights and radio broadcasts for every regular-season and playoff game will also be accessible. Fantasy football mavens will have access to news, stats and rosters from their phones.

The service will be available on some Android, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Brew (a not-so-smart phone operating system from Qualcomm) devices, wrote a Verizon spokesman in an e-mail. Verizon will announce which models and how much subscriptions will cost “closer to the start of the NFL season in August,” according to the press release.

Mobile sports fans will also be able to tap into a CBS Sports app for the NCAA basketball tournament’s March Madness games.

Stories have been going around that a botnet was being spread by the HTC Magic on Vodafone. Specifically, it was Panda Security that sounded the alarm after they plugged in said Android phone and had all kinds of alarms go off. However, it turns out it was an infected memory card that was the culprit, and not a bad batch of phones, as original post author Pedro Bustamante later points out in the comments.

Its the memory card for sure, not the actual Android filesystem. It could be a malicious employee, a bad batch, provided by the manufacturer, lack of QA or a returned and refurbished unit. But as you said, either way Vodafone needs to better QA these before shipping out to customers.

Pedro’s right, there should be better Q&A to keep this from happening. But there also should be a little more discretion used before we see headlines such as “Vodafone distributes Mariposa botnet.” (And the post itself hasn’t been updated?) An infected memory card is bad, but one bad apple does not an outbreak make. The sky’s not falling, folks.

Whether you own an iPhone or not, most people have heard iPhone owners complain about the battery life. Its an extremely common complaint. Thankfully you can purchase a very small RichardSolo back up battery charger for your iPhone 3G. Itll make sure that youre never stuck with a dead battery, plus it has a couple of small gadgets built into it.

It has a built-in flashlight as well as a laser pointer. Sure, you can get a flashlight app for your iPhone, but your iPhone doesnt have a laser pointer. On it is a retractable USB charger, a dual-port USB charger and even the usual AC wall charger. Its capable of reaching a full charger after 5 hours of being plugged in. There are 3 LED lights that will help you keep track of the charge status of the battery. If you do plug in the battery, you can also plug your iPhone into the battery and charge them both at the same time. You can purchase one of these for $69.95.

Microsoft has demonstrated seamless and integrated versions of an Indiana Jones game running across Windows Phone 7, Xbox 360 and Windows 7.

Eric Rudder, Senior Vice President of Technical Stategy at Microsoft, demonstrated the game at TechEd Middle East 2010 last week in Dubai. Engadget spotted that he demonstrated how the game can be run on Windows 7 and then picked up and played on Windows Phone 7. The game will also remember your level information and achievements to enable you to seamlessly switch between several devices that you play the game on.

It’s the first time Microsoft has demonstrated games on the Windows Phone 7 series platform ahead of its MIX 2010 conference next week. We expect there to be a heavy focus on gaming with Windows Phone 7 at MIX 2010. Stay tuned for all the details as we report live from MIX next week.

According to Softpedia.com, Apple is no longer welcoming Wi-Fi scanning apps in its App Store, giving them the same ban as apps with adult content.

“We received a very unfortunate email today from Apple stating that WiFi-Where has been removed from sale on the App Store for using private frameworks to access wireless information,” the developer of WiFi-Where says. “It also appears that all other competing Wi-Fi enabled apps have been removed as well. This is very unfortunate as the past 2-3 months have seen a handful of new Wi-Fi apps get approved. Hopefully Apple will allow this functionality in a future SDK.”

Similar apps that have been given the boot include WiFiTrack, WiFiFoForum, yFy Network Finder, WiFi Get, eWifi, and WiFi Analyzer. But what’s most puzzling is Apple’s inconsistent stance. Some of these apps have been been around a long time, while others were blocked until November 2009, at which point Apple approved them, only to now get kicked out.

Talk about big premieres. Like it did with the iPhone and its “Hello” ad, Apple used the Oscars as the platform to debut its iPad commercial. The ad, set to the background of The Blue Van’s “There Goes My Love,” shows the iPad being used in a variety of ways: viewing a movie, reading an eBook, displaying photos, editing an iWork document and viewing email among them. The ad follows Apple’s recent announcement that pre-orders for the device will be accepted beginning March 12, with shipments slated for April 3.

Apple chairman Steve Jobs was spotted on the red carpet before the awards… maybe he brought his iPad with him.
